Default Not Sherm or an XCal employee but

My guess is when you are doing a start up, especially with only one product that takes a while to wear out, you try and get some out in the field to be seen, unofficially reviews by we, the shooters. You do a "loss leader" - all rolled into overhead/start-up costs.
Now for an endorsement - unpaid: A Bud and I bought a few. He has the BR chops and is doing the chambering. He says they copper less than any of his Hart, Lilja, Pac Nor, Krieger, Obermeyer etc bbls. He is working up an XC wildcat and getting zeroes, ones and twos with the 6mms.

The gents involved making it happen came from top notch bbl mfrs. They bought state of the art equipment.

Why do you choose to exaggerate so much? You are comparing a 21" long 1" diameter ONLY SS 17 from GM that costs $42.00. Apples to oranges and its 3.8 times, not 5 times. A 25" 1.06" diameter 17 cal SS GM blank suitable for small shank Savage is $104.05. A Remmy or 1.20" chamber end GM CM 17 blank is $104.95. A Remmy 27" long 1.20" diameter GM SS 17 is $146.95.

Their equivalent product (Green Mountain) is $146.95

HOW IS THAT 5 TIMES AS MUCH??????

What is your beef, dude?

Why sh!t on someone else's sale threads? Its (^%*^)((!! rude.

I am interested in all barrels 20 and under, what makes the process at X Caliber cause the blank cost to be so high? At $160.00 it is 5 times the cost of a 17 cal 1 in 9 blank from Green Mountain. I do like to know what I am paying for, so please explain what makes the difference so I (we) can understand what we are getting for our investment. As I recall when X Caliber started making barrels those blanks were close to the prices that GM charges now (around $85.00?). Larry

Then blow the post away, I don't care, I am probably just old and senile, I was only asking why the cost was so much more, if it cost 5 times more to drill a hole down a piece of stock that is 1.25 inches in diameter than it does to drill a hole down one that is one inch then say so, I don't know, I have never tried, only curious about a 5 to one cost delta. Really an honest business supply question to me. Larry

Got X-Caliber.net book marked now so no more confusion.
