Exclamation This is a very dangerous situation.

Also......I have doubts that one could tansfer enough total force, from the muzzle, down a 17 caliber bore.

If I remember correctly, at the BR match.......the gentleman's wife was killed, after he hit the cleaning rod end from the muzzle..........the casehead separated.

I'd take it to a qualified gunsmith.

Hope this helps.

Kevin

How does that warning go?

If you find yourself at the bottom of a hole, the first thing to do is stop digging!

I suspect that might apply here.

Lol....!! Keep pushing the gunsmith solution. I kept having visions of a blind man with a hand grenade with the pin pulled when I was reading the various posts.

And the thread itself is a classic example of why you religiously check cartridge case lengths.......

We have a gunsmith here, lets ask him how he would get it out. Larry

There can be a world of difference between how a good gunsmith might do it SAFELY and how someone requesting help from 47 total strangers on the internet might go about the same task doing the same thing, but in a not-so-safe manner.

My guess is your gunsmith there will want to see what's involved before committing to anything on the internet that might create liability for him.

Default gunsmith

I took a Kimber of Oregon 22 Hornet to a gunsmith to remove a case that had detonated with a charge of the rogue Little Gun that was circulating about 15 years ago. Bolt locked up, it would rotate about 1/3rd of the way but that was it. Picked it up the next day and asked him how he got it out. His comment was if I told you how we worked on your guns you would never bring anything to us. I imagine any gunsmith reading this thread has probably tried 3 or 4 of the methods we've offered. They whack and pound to and I've personally stood next to a couple that did...on someone else's rifle.
