Wiley Coyote
Went up against 204 Ruger @ 285 yards and lost, I was just out groundhog hunting and the opportunity presented itself, went between 40 to 45#. I've got pictures but have no luck posting them here

First coyote I ever shot, never really hunted them. Weight estimate came from my buddy who hunts them, he said it was a younger female. I saw what might have been her mate and he was larger. Perhaps some one can tell from the pictures. As I said I never really hunted them..........

Our Eastern Coyotes can top 60 pounds. They get big and fat eating all our Fawns and Turkey. Look at the snout on the Bow shot one.

Herb's Coyote
Herb, That is one fine coyote.
I am assuming this is Herb. That is a heavy coyote, you can see that on Herb's face. What a great day. Very nice Herb. That .204 sure didn't mess up the hide. Thank for sharing your success. Lowell

The one with the arrow looks like a coywolf to me. That cross is getting common farther east of you, but it wouldn't surprise me if they all had a little wolf in them even in your area based on the size. Common coyotes don't get much over 35-40 Lbs about any where you find them. Length of snout, ear size, paws, length of legs & overall larger size are some things that identify a coywolf. Did you contact your local Game Dept. about the possibility of identifying them as coywolfs? Would be interest to know!!

Congrats on the coyote
That's a big one, if he's 40-45 I have shot many dozen in Ks and South Dakota Weighed one that seemed very large, 44 pounds on a scale that may or may not be accurate. |
