sure.....
easiest to do. Switch barrel Ruger 77 actions are fun. About as easy a threaded barrel can be to fit/chamber.
MY favorite is a 77 Mark II in .250 Savage Ackley Improved, but have done several others, 300 Win Mag, 308 Win, 7.62x39,... .458 x 2" American,..... forget some. Now one I have not done but would like to, a medium varmint weight barrel in .358 Win, and a 357 Bain Davis on a 77/44 action. |

I had a Ruger 77/22Hornet re-barreled to a 17AH years ago. Shoots great...

Lots of folks have rebarreled No.1 and No.3 actions.

James Calhoon re-barreled 77/22s for his .19 Hornets. Might be wrong, but I think he only sells complete rifles based on the C-Z 527 platform now.

Ruger rebarrel
I have not had any Rugers rebarreled. That is because I have had such poor results with the accuracy of the factory Rugers, both 77s and #1s.
I have numerous Rem 700s and a few Sakos that have been rebarreled and the results have been excellent. And there are more options for aftermarket customizing of Rem 700s as well. I have given up on all Ruger long guns after many (slow learner) bad and expensive experiences. |

I too had stayed away from Ruger rifles, probably due to the abundant complaints about long throats and poor accuracy on the early M77's. Then last year an M77 Target Model in .204 came up at my local gun shop used. It had a high dollar Leupold on it that I could use and the price was right so it followed me home. Long story short, it shoots great, I love the .204 R and when I shoot it out it will be re-barreled. A keeper for sure.

The only Ruger I've had that was a pitiful shooter was an early 257 Roberts. It was a rifled shotgun. The other dozen or so have been adequate to above average with a little load and bedding work. The best shooter of my Ruger collection is a 77/22 HB Hornet, that had it's factory barrel set back a turn and rechambered to 22 K-Hornet. WW 296 and 40 gr. Nosler Varmageddon combine to make this rifle shoot in the 3s with boring repetition. The looming question is why Ruger undermines good barrels with marginal cutting of the chambers.
