Primer Scare ?
I had prepped some 223 brass, last Winter, all except Priming. Tonite, I primed about a 150, with some Remington 7 1/2 BR primers.
In one of the little black trays, I found a little three legged anvil, from the inside of a primer. I was worried, that it had fallen loose from a primer, that I had all ready seated. I checked all the cases, and it appears the anvils are all intact. Guessing the anvil, was just one that had fallen into the tray, some how. Now if I had seated a primer, without an anvil, it would just fail to ignite Right ? Any one else run across this ? Jim |

Does that anvil look smoked up?
Was the box fresh or already opened? IF one is missing it just won't fire is all.

The anvils are glued on and easy to knock off with rough handling, regardless of brand. One of the functions of a primer flip tray is the ability to inspect them quickly for missing anvils.

I didn't notice any primers missing the anvil, in the tray of my RCBS hand primer.
The anvil looked new ! Thanks for the replies ! That's the kind of info I was looking for ! You can count on Saubier ! Jim |
