No offense to anyone who likes em but I've never been fond of the Lux. That European butt stock reminds me of a Roman nosed American Saddler/Thoroughbred cross I had one time that was hell for fast but rank as heck on occasion just cause he felt like it. Blue Roan in color and great conforms right up to that big Roman nose, personal thing I guess.

If I was to get a CZ .222 aside of the Varminter it'd have to be the American and that isn't the configuration I'd like for my first .222. I keep looking for a 700 in stellar condition but so far no joy . Someday maybe.

I am not a big fan of the Lux models either, but back in the day, when the first of us were trying the 527s out and they weren't so well known, that is all they offered. I liked the rifle, just not the stock. Eventually, some time after I had the two, I decided that I was going to make a real effort to buy LH rifles, so they now had two strikes against them, the stock and that they were RH. If it were only one strike, I may have just kept them.

Here's a link to the CZ 222 Rem rifle that I mentioned. They are calling it a Full Stock so maybe its not a LUX.

I never paid it much attention yesterday other than to notice it on a rack as I had no intention of buying it. Just noticed that it was a 222 Rem.

I purchased a CZ 527 Lux in .222 about three years ago from a shop in southern NC, it came to me as a Used gun but all indications are it was unfired since the Factory but missing the box etc. My first 527 Lux and I've owned Kevlar Varmint, American and a regular Varmint as well. Since the primary use for the .222 is as a walking varmint rifle I find the Lux just fine and its accuracy with loads it likes has indeared it to me as well.

note the top two three shot groups with Nosler Varmagedon 40 HP's, Luxes do tend to be love 'em or hate 'em rifles for lots of folks, depends on the use for me.

That's a nice rifle Gerald, real nice. I was just letting the guys know about the 222 Varmint. Yesterday on GB there was 7 for sale, this morning only 2 and yesterday one guy had them for $619.00.

Understand 220, that FS posted got my attention, love the FS's.

Not taking issue with anything anyone else posted, just pointing out I'm pleased with my Lux.

I have bought Lux model 222,223 and 22hornet rifles and replaced the Euro stock with American style walnut and Kevlar versions. This gives a nice set up in those calibers, with iron sights to boot.
Have to say though, the Euro stocks do not appeal to me, from a beauty standpoint. But, functionally, especially the light weightedness, make for a nice "carry" rifle! It really works well on the shorter carbines.

Not crazy about the full stock but that can be fixed. I would love a CZ in a 222! Just don't see them here and to privately import one would be more paperwork (and headache) than it is worth. I see some up here in 223 but not 222.

I didn't fully understand the message Swift. If there was two this morning however, there's one left now . I'm so weak! I know I said I wasn't gonna buy any more guns but...but......uh...I lied ....It's all Swift220's fault....REALLY!!! (I'm practicing for telling the bride, think she'll buy it?? ).
I'm told it was a special run CZ USA did for somewhere in Mexico but it is indeed the wood stocked 527 Varmint in .222

That is a good looking rifle Gerald and it obviously shoots real well! To late now but as to that Mannlicher stocked version, I could like one a those but I've always wondered about the bedding issues I suspected would come along with it?

At any rate, I'm an owner of a non production run CZ 527 wood stocked Varmint in .222 . Weak-Weak-Weak!!!
