All I can say is if someone has a rifle chambered in it, that ammo is going to get real rare. That company is having some issues, so don't expect any ammo out of them for the US market for a few years...

is this the same as 17 Mach II
I saw some of this recently as well, in a shop in KY. Is this the same as 17 Mach II? What is the difference?
I have a Mach II and most of my ammo supply is Eley branded. |

No, the .17 Agulia preceded both the .17 HMR and the .17 Mach II by many years. It is slightly shorter than the .17MII and is not interchangeable.

Wasn't the 17 Aquila very close to the 17 Hi Standard round??

You can shoot the 17Aguila/PMC in your rifles chambered for the 17HM2 (Mach2). I wouldn't suggest using it in a semi-auto rifle and you cannot shoot 17HM2 ammo in rifles chambered for the 17Aguila/PMC.
Here's an article I wrote about the ammo years ago: The .17 Aguila/PMC A Small Game Option for the .17 Mach II ? Eric Last edited by Eric Mayer; 04-09-2014 at 03:36 PM. |

That is an awesome article Eric! I didn't realize that it would shoot so well in a 17 hm2 chambers. I have some of the early ammo, may give it a try someday in my cz or maybe the 504....
Also looks to be cheaper shooting.

I bought a couple bricks of it a few years ago to use in my HM2 guns for squirrel hunting. It was as accurate as the HM2 out of my BL-17, which isn't saying much and fed fine through the tube magazine. In my rugger 77/17 in HM2 it shoots very well, tight groups at 50 yards and groups about twice the size as the HM2 at 100 yards. It would not feed from the ruger rotary magazine though, I have to single feed them.

Can anyone give a nice summary/ history on the 17 hs? I'm now thinking this is the perfect match for a 17 auto loader... can't help but think it'd take out some of the pressure spike... if i can find some cheap, in stocking up!
