There are a lot of great smiths out there to be sure and taking nothing away from any qualified experienced smith, I too have to go with Greg Tannel at "Gre'Tan Rifles" in Rifle Colorado. Greg's path to becoming a gunsmith leaves him as the best smith for truly accurate rifles I've ever dealt with. I've never had him do a rifle for me that was anything less than "exceptionally" accurate, the man's a wizard!

Greg does great work. There are lots of smiths to chose from,I think Greg
is one of the best out there. Some are faster, some are cheaper,Gregs work is worth the wait in my humble opinion. Matt

It probably depends a lot on how much you want to spend and when you want to shoot something with it. Larry

17/204
Robert Denton built a .17/204 for me recently. http://www.dentonrifles.com
Tried to post pictures on this website with mixed success. Some could see them and others not? Still have no idea why. Was able to post pics on the AccurateShooter.com website. Rifle shows a lot of promise in limited shooting. Vic |

I know AB has a 17 Tac reamer and I have a 17-204 reamer he can use, so I would say all you need is a barrel and gun to put it on. If you need something a little smaller I have a nice tight spec 17 FB reamer also. Larry

Weaver is about finished with my 'cannon' .358U/M He called yesterday to discuss the stock finish. Metal work is done. I took three rifles to him to work on. One he'd rebuilt that was having some ejection problems. Fixed that right away on warranty. The other two there's no rush as I'm still laid up with health.
I took all of them to him in person on Dec 19th. This will give you an idea his time to get it in. NBD IF you're not in any rush. I have no idea what he's got lined up after mine are done. You'd just need to call, or e'mail him. kevin@weaverrifles.com, or 719/683-3024 His wife Jeanette may answer the ph. He also does NOT work on handguns. Good luck I have bone spurs on the shoulder joints. When reaching a lot of times when they pop over my arm's jerk. I just about ruined a barrel channel for this 358 with the router on a $350 stock. Got within 1/16" of going clear out the side. Kevin was worried about how that would turn out as "My reputation rides on the results" "Not when it was me that butchered it up, just do the best you can with stained bedding compound and I'll be happy". Hope to have it in hand by this time next week. Would be real nice to find someone local to take some pics of this rifle so I could post them here. I'm having him engrave 1/2" high lettering on the floor plate the calibers on three rifles as they're all the same and look much alike. Nothing like getting ammo mixed up in the wrong guns. All are M1917 Enfields/Eddystone

I too have had a couple rifles built by Mr. Weaver .17 Rem and .223. I was quite please with both and would definitely recommend him. However, when I had my 1911 built I had an "up and coming" guy do the work, and was quite happy with the results. I'd be inclined to give AB a shot. It's nice to get smiths on the way up before they have long wait times.
