I look forward to a report if anyone gets one. I wonder if it could keep pace with the hornet and lil gun powder? Then we have to neck it down to 20,and 17.

Those were exactly my first thoughts. Bet someone's already done it...

When the cases were announced I bought 1600, I did a 20 caliber. I made the neck longer but put a 40* shoulder so the case capacity was about equal. Call it the 20 Boomer. Since Eddie had the 20 Jav Imp reamer and the head space ga from the 17 Boomer I did several years before. It was a quick turn around. Case has the capacity close to a 20 AH. I never chrono it but it shoots very good. I will say the brass I have is very strong. At 72 I make it a rule NEVER reload from memory. Well I did, put together a test load and messed up. Load should have been 10gr 296, I used 12 gr. Luckily I have a good gunsmith and it was a Kiff cone nose bolt in a Rem SA, I had .012 mini belt on the case and primer was flatten but still in tact. When I made the 17 Boomer I just picked a length, actually meant to do a 1.00" OAL but came out 1.025 OAL. The 20 Boomer measurers the same, by luck. Great little case, it took me something like 16-18 steps to make the 17 Boomer from 223 but using the TCM brass it was 8 or so steps to make the 20 Boomer.

So- this new round might not match the Hornet, but - it shows promise and might be WONDERFUL with Lil'Gun powder, just as the .218Bee already is. Might have similar capacity to the Bee - if so, it will SHINE, especially in a Ruger #1.

Ray - BobD and I have been using more 296 than that in the Hornet - with perfect results and no adverse pressure signs. Hornady lists11.0gr. with 40gr. bullets - used to list 12gr. or so in normal Hornets - I guess this new case shape does not handle this powder well? I was hoping it would do like a .218Bee - maybe not.

Daryl, to be honest, I haven't gone back and revisited the case. I need to do that but I have some others I want to finish first. I was in a hurry to fire form some cases 3 times to send off for a die (which I've since received from Whidden). I should be checking it out a few weeks. The first fire forming loads I tried were under a half inch at 100 yds but I didn't chrono them. I'll check formed case volume with some h380. Maybe the old grey cells are playing tricks again.

Daryl- I did a quick using H380. The 22 TCM holds about 11.7gr to base of neck. The 218 Bee holds 14.0gr to base of neck.
