Default I quess I just don't get it...17 hornet, again

I know this subject has been discussed and cussed to death, but i just feel the need to rant bit.

I just got an email from Midway saying the order I placed in January for 10 boxes of loaded ammo-17 Hornet is not expected to be filled before January 2015.

I don't fault Midway for this. The blame lies squarely in Hornady's corner. It just annoys me to no end that Hornady gets us all cranked up over this new exciting factory caliber and then dumps us. Grrrr.

Almost as bad as Ruger abandoning beefing up the 10-22 to shoot 17HM2.

Oh well can't shoot it any way, sitting here waiting for my gunsmith to fix the extractor on my 1215, that he cut wrong. Seems he has a long waiting list and when I sent my rifle back for correction it goes to back of the line. Another Grrr....think I will go shoot one of my cannons!

Rant over, thanks

Sounds like you need another project to hop on. I know where you're coming from.

Sounds to me like you need a different Gunsmith. What kind of person messes up a job and then puts you at the back of the line to fix it? Larry

Cabela's has 17 Hornet in stock, with apparently no limits (as of 08/09/2014 - it's at the top of the list):
Cabela's 17 Hornet Superformance

I understand your frustration, but hang in there!

Eric

I am waiting until I get it back and see if he charges me for it.

Years ago I had a local guy drill n tap a rifle for a scope and broke the tap off. Then left it that way. When I took it back the place was full of guys waiting their turn. He gave me some guff as I was just a kid.
When I made it plain that he'd screwed up and left it that way and I expected it to be fixed damned quick. The place emptied out. From what I heard from others later that destroyed his business once the word got around what he'd done and sent it out that way.

Cabelas and my LGS have it in stock. A quick look on AmmoSeek shows that Rare Ammo has it also but at a dollar a shot they can suck it.
I wonder if the gougers are still snatching it up to sell?

Just thinking outside of the box a little here but isn't the .17 Hornet more for the reloading crowd vs. the factory ammo buyer? I mean, it's roots are in wildcatting.
