I said beautiful rifle and all on the first couple of photo's, but now you add these other's and they are really excellent. The rings/base's built right into the action, super. And the wood and grain, the checkering are way above par. Thanks for sharing all those photo's. Bill K

Lol you better reset those filters

Sorry I didn't get a pic of the full barreled action

How about a dangerous game rifle

And to let you know who the gunsmith is

Brian made the actions, did the stock work, whittled the barrels out of 2" blanks, did the bluing.....pretty talented...........Kiwi

Kiwi, that's more than ''pretty talented''. The number of smiths that can do that kind of work in metal and wood are few and far between.

Ray I agree, what is even more astounding is Brian didn't do any training to become a gunsmith, it came about from an illness where after surviving the doctor recommended a job change and recommended you need to take up something that requires hand and eye co-ordination, like rugby or boxing.
Well he took up boxing and since he enjoyed hunting bought himself the machinery and started doing gunsmithing.

The engraving was done by Andrew Biggs of Christchurch.

Brian told a story where he went and set up a stand at Reno, he was on the corner of an isle and Fred Wells was on the corner of the adjoining isle.
Brian says Fred had a look at his actions and rifles but didn't say much. Apparently everyone that stopped in at Fred's stand got told to go and look at Brian's work. Brian didn't know this and couldn't figure out why the visitors to his stand were 3 deep for the whole show, while the other stands he could see didn't have as many visitors.

Now I know Fred Wells made actions and he had a huge waiting list for his actions so to have a compliment from someone like that is quite an achievement...........Kiwi

the stock work reminds me of the late Dale Goins from the 60" and 70". he loved those mauser style actions to stock. beautiful
