The dies are off to heat treat monday am, but out of the testing came this batch of hornets with .650 body length. I guess I should have thrown a quarter on the towel for size comparison... but I didn't have one handy... believe me they're small. You guys will love them.

What are the cost and waiting time for your Hornet forming die ?
What neck bushings are required and the cost of bushings to form 17 hornets from the standard 22 hornet ?

thanks
Hal

I think I had Paul whomp one up for me nearly 18 months ago.
As far as "shoulda been done a long time ago", wasn't it Skip Otto who did these years ago?

Default forming dies

I have one of the John Bunch sets. Don't use it alot but when you need a tool with that skill set it can't be beat.

I've added a few things... having trouble with photobucket again too so posting pics here is tough just yet. I'll see what I can do.

Paul:
It would be nice to see what all you make.
Do you have a web page or such we could look at?

I made a set of bushings about ten years ago from .160" I think it was
clear up to .500". To fit the Lee die body they sell with the case belling die.

The real trick to these bushings is in the internal polishing. IF not highly polished they'll sure crush a case right quick. Damned tedious to polish this many so I haven't done it to all of 'em, only the few I needed to use in making the .17 VR cases. Then when I bought the rifle, foxhunter included a forming die for one stroke production that works even better. I think that might be a Bulberry, it's made solely for this case and no bushings needed.

Thanks,

I had a web page, but took it down the e purchase (e commerce) section of it didn't work real well, the guy that designed made it real easy for people to pay... too easy... people were paying for custom items that I hadn't made yet...

That makes it tough to keep up, and keep customers happy. What I list in my ads is what I make... if you were to contact me by email, Pbike257@Gmail.com, you could discuss custom item that you might have in mind to have me make... It's a toss up whether I can do t.

With the shoulder dies, I cut the bushings in the lathe, mark them for size, polish them, heat treat and black oxide coat them, then polish them again before shipping, yes the sizing bushings are very tedious to get them right.
