Default Rings

I need to mount a vortex viper 6.5x20x50 scope on a cooper varmint rifle. Will medium rings be too short? I will be using standard leupold rings and the scope has a 30mm tube.

Cooper M21 Phoenix w/ Viper 44mm objective, 30mm tube. Used Talley Light weight one piece rings. I have 1/8" clearance on barrel, my bolt handle clears the ocular lens by less than that! Talley gives the height measurement on their website. You may be able to use that as a reference when choosing your Leupold rings.
