Default Marlin rifles

Does Marlin use a unique action or it is a Remington clone since they are made by the same company? Just asking because they have Marlin 270 and 30-06 rifles on sale here for $229.00. Larry

Seems to me the Marlin blot guns came out before Remington bought them out.

I looked one over some time ago and it never struck me to be a Remington Action, or I'd have bought it - I think, due to the low price and I wanted a .308 at the time.
I know this doesn't answer your question. - sry.

Where's here? At that price I would take a .270 in a heartbeat! I need a beater to take in the truck during hunting season as my other rifles are too good for that.

Sportsman's Warehouse has them, either 30-06 or 270 for $229.00. Marlin XL7.

The XL7 is a pure Marlin design. IIRC, they had quit making the rifles prior to the acquisition by Remington, so maybe they are making them again unless these are overruns.

Chatter on the net at the time said that they were a good shooting bargain.

I heard that too, locally, but do not know what THEY consider good shooting.

I have 3 of the older series, X-7,

Marlin took the best of REM and Win and made there own version, ie
Rem action/lockup and Win trigger/safety etc.

There was quite a write up on them, several yrs back
IIRR in the Rifle mag.

The ones I have are all GOOD shooters, right around 1+"
without anything done to them, right out of the box,
in 30/06, 270 & 25/06 calibers.

Tia,
Don

I'm pretty sure the one he's referring to is this "entry level" rifle. It's far different from the rifle Marlin built a few years back copying all the best of a few other rifles of the day. This one has a two position safety and is totally no frills but supposedly is a good shooting value.

Two totally different breeds of cats with vastly different levels of quality and appearance.

Most likely, MOA or slightly over. Good hunting accuracy for most folks. Bill K
