Back Home & NOT Happy
As some would know, with my downturn in health we decided to move back to Australia from N.Z. Want to spend some time with kids & grandkids, those that have been down this road will understand.
Well we had close on 150 boxes all packed nice and tight in our container. One, only one got smashed when the container was unloaded in Melbourne. The box containing all my grandmothers and my mothers crockery, beautifull old vegetable dishes, etc. Everyone smashed to pieces, there are stones embedded in the side of the box. I'm guessing its been dropped off the top of a pallet on the fork lift. All were labelled "FRAGILE" I can't tell ya how much this has torn me up, they were about passed onto my son, 4th generation then to his daughter further down the track. Thanks for listening to me whine, just had to vent Johno |

One word - "bugger".
Hope your health improves - I suppose it could have been worse - got everything over there and then washed away in the floods - poor sods. The grankids will be pleased to see you, a bit more "locally". |

Rollercoaster of two weeks myself
Johno,
Hope things settle down for you soon.....packing up and moving can be stressful enough without losing possessions that have a high sentimental value....in your case irreplaceable. As the title states I have been on an emotional rollercoaster myself the last two weeks (sorry if I'm highjacking your thread!)....on the 28th of Jan my son Charlie Gladstone Cameron entered the world which was an unbelievable high and then a week later my mum died...a huge low....tomorrow I'm back to work and I don'y feel like going in at all! Anyway, nice to see you back on Ozzie soil....you will miss NZ though....a beautiful country. |

Sorry to see you go mate. Still, as Muldoon said of people hopping the ditch from NZ to Oz, you are raising the average IQ of both countries... (only kidding!)
Sad news about your beloved possessions. Hope you are able to get good treatment etc in Austruckinfailure. Where have you moved too? My clan over there are all in Perth these days.. All the best mate. |

When the military moved me from Ohio to Cali my things spent 7 months in Texas before I got them back. When I got them back half was so dirty we threw it out and the half was warped from the heat. I hear ya bro when you whine. Adam

Johno:
That's hard to take, even harder to accept. Hopefully they were insured to the hilt and will come thru with it w/o another war over value's and discounting. Things happen and it's claimed most do for the best. Mighty hard to see thru it all at these times. Wishing you the best in health too. Try not to dwell on the bad too much that it creates more problems.

Thank you friends for your kind thoughts. Pete, a very happy & sad time for you mate. Congratulations on the baby and my sympathy on the loss of your mother.
We are looking into the insurance George, but not looking good. But its hard to value something that has such huge sentimental attachment. Never mind its good to back among my friends after a month absense, catching up on all the projects. Johno |
