The 20VT with an 11 twist barrel is a no brainer. It will handle the 40 VMax just fine.

I will add this. IF you are building a repeater that always feeds like butter, the .20-.222, .20 Practical or .204 would be the way to go. My .204 is a 1-10 and my .20 P is 1-11 and neither have an issue with 40 Vmax. I love the .204 and have shot out close to 600yds with it. Any of them will shoot with ease out to 2-300 yds. Personally if I were to build one .20 it would be the Practical, for ease of feeding, unlimited case supply and ease of forming, and inexpensive .223 bushing dies.

Yes the larger cartridge cases will feed better, if you want and load as a repeater.
And I do have everyone one of the other 20's.. 20-223ai, 204R,20 Practical and a 20 Tac. But when I shoot them off bench on ground squirrels, etc. even rock chucks, I load them single shot, like I do the 20Vt or 20SCC. But over all the one caliber, in 20 that gets the most shooting at those critters, for me anyway, is the 20 VT/Scc. Just a thought |

Well I have good brass coming for the 221 and the 222. So either way I will be good to go. Depends a bit on the smith and reloading supplies that pop up. But definitely am convinced it is between the 221-222.

You will enjoy either one of those versions for your 20 caliber. Keep us posted on progress and remember we like photos of the work and results.

Check with Ray H. He's got a 20 Javelina Improved that is awesome. I'm not sure how it compares in case capacity, but it's bigger than a VT and less than a 20 Tac/Practical.

Isn't it based on a 222 Rem case also, but with the shoulder set back a little ?
