Mine were delivered today. 42gr. I’d say they are spire point, definitely pointed, with a small hollow point hole. I just went to look and they look like a big .19 cal. 32gr DBHP. I wish it was easier to upload photos.

I’ll take a photo now and it will be in an album on my page.

I loaded some up and will see how they do tomorrow after work. If they perform anywhere near as nicely as his .19cal 32gr DBHP Im going to use them as my primary .22 cal vermin bullet.

I have them on my page. Jim suggested that I go with the 42’s - they were his favorite before he began shooting the .19’s.

Johno,

I had one group of five at .35 or so. Today after work it was raining hard, getting dark, I was in a rush - generally miserable, so I am confident that I will get better than that. I don’t have any reloading data for .221FB, AA1680, 42 gr Bullets so I am working my way up. Next time I’ll hopefully have my chronograph set up as well.

Neil

The bullet is working great! Did under a quarter inch @20 grains 1680, .221 FB this afternoon.

No CFE BLK. I’m pretty well stocked with 1680. I was just reading about the CFK BLK and it is #69 and 1680 is #68 on the burn chart.

Sounds like a winner Neil, i'm about to try CFE BLK in the 19 badger and i'm using 1680 as a guide.

What kind of speed are you getting. I always found Lil'Gun gave me far and away the best velocity in the 221. It will push 40 grain Vmax and BKs at 3500 with excellent accuracy.

Dean, I had a pound of Lil’Gun and tried it briefly, before I started with 1680. I can’t recall why I stopped using it. Jim at Calhoon really likes RL-7 for .221FB, I don’t know if he ever worked much with Lil’Gun or 1680.

My speeds are 3280 average for the 20gr 1680 load, Calhoon 42(.221 FB). I find my speeds are maybe about 100 FPS average slower than others, probably due to the 7 twist and 21 inch barrel. This load has a nice feel to it as well as one hole accuracy in my rifle. My target was 3300 FPS so I might experiment with an additional grain or two of powder tomorrow. (Also, my focus is on targets <=200yds., so performance beyond that is of little value to me)

It will be interesting to learn how Johno does with the CFE BLK. My guess is that it will work well in the .22’s, dunno about the .19badger.
