Default Howa MiniAction Rifle in 7.62×39

how long before someone on the forum makes one into a 22 ppc bases small caliber? seem a natural for a 22, 20 or 17 ppc, bolt face is the same and it should feed from the magazine.

I know of a couple that have been built in both 22 and 6mm ppc. I was thinking 6mm Grendel but. . . a Cooper 21 in 223 found me during the holidays so this idea is sidelined for now.

I just put a lightweight Heym barrel in .224 1-12 tw on a Grendel Mini and chambered it in 224 LBC. Hope to shoot it in the coming weeks. Planning on 53gr Vmax and curious as the the velocity I’ll be able to get.

that 224 lbc would be pretty trick in this action with a 6 1/2 twist barrel and running 95 smk's.

If I had the money i'd build one for my boys

Whitaker’s has a few of the Howa mini youth models in 7.62 on sale for $349 or $359. I picked one up a month ago and made the mistake of shooting it. I was going to rebarrel to that 224 LBC but it handles so nice and shot really well with the Sierra .311 125gr prohunter that I’m keeping as is for a kids gun. One more rifle to build is the 6mm Grendel/LBC. I’m just going to use the 224 LBC reamer and a separate neck/throat reamer for that one.

Heck of a deal for a project gun for any PPC/Grendel based cartridges.

Not sure I would agree with this. I was looking to build a nice lightweight carry/truck/coyote rifle. To me that means flat shooting, accurate, and a decent point blank range. For my kids the straight Grendel and 7.62x39 are light recoiling and will do a great job on deer sized game...this is my toy😁
