Default 22Rush

I had the article it was from Precision Shooter by Jack Rush he said he was getting 1,800fps. out of a 40gr. Sierra Hp and it was very accurate much more accurate than any rimfire. I think Cooper should chamber the round in there model LVT it would be much better than the old 22 Cooper 22 squirrel or the 22 magnum. In article I think Jack rebarreled an old Kimber Hornet.

Seems that there are a lot of cases in that size that would work well and a lot that have been done. Left to right, 17 Rem FB, .223 Short, 17 VR, 327 Federal, 32-20, 32 H&R Mag, and the 17 Remington. Larry

Larry, I took a look at your 223 Super Short today and that fots the bills too, as does the 22 Reeds Express. I like the Rush for its unique style, you are correct that "nothing is new under the Sun" but at the same time I really like the small edible game rounds. Adam

Wish I could say I had more to do the the .223 Short project, but I only made the reamer to match a sample round and chambered a GM Barrel for a Savage. Seems it is a 1 in 7 twist. Larry

Default Squirrel hair and gravy

All the talk about squirrel hunting and cooking them brings back a lot of memories. The old men would kid the first time squirrel cleaners about having squirrel hair and gravy for supper. They had almost as much hair on them after they were cleaned as before. You also had some that ate the squirrel brains and some did not. Making head shots for the ones that did required a shot that took the nose off and left the rest of the head. Barking was another way to not mess up head or meat. I miss those old guys and watching them shoot as a kid. Different world back then.

Red,
I hear ya. I would turn down Westle Richards rifles for a small caliber squirrel rifle. The Squirrel hunt is the most facinating hunt I can think of, even more so than PD's. Never eatten brains but have been teased about the hair. You're right about it being a different world. When I talk of eating Squirrel in california I get this look like I have lost my brains.
