22250 from 308
I used Wilson full length dies on military 7.62x51; the first die was 243 and the next was 22-250, squeezed in a large vice. I tried going straight to 22-250 but it was a huge effort, even in the big vice and with the nelp of Imperial wax. The necks were very thick and needed to be reamed and turned along with annealed (or they cracked). I would not be bothered doing it again.

I tried doing this as close to some of what the postings have mentioned, in one pass. I did not have all of exactly what was mentioned, so I went at it with the closest of the supplies I had on hand. I don't have trouble with doing exactly what might be mentioned, but in this case, I wanted to see if what I had would work. It did not. Sizing effort, even in my Lee Classic Cast press was huge, and the necks folded. I then bought a 7mm-08 sizing die body from Lee and "had at it". No problem. I got a 7mm-08 case out of it. I will try that case in my .22-250 die. If I have issues, I will try to get a .243 die or die body.

I video recorded all of my Highpower Rifle matches. Pretty soon I am going to watch them all in reverse order so that I can watch those F Class guys GO HOME and leave us alone so that we can shoot Highpower Rifle. |
