HS, you have used many 20 cal bbls with the 20VT. How does the X-Caliber barrel compare? Do you have a preference when it comes to 20 cal bbls and if so which ones and why? Thanks!! CZ

I have used almost every 20 caliber barrel out there when it comes to a 20 Vartarg and Hart has been my go to barrel for 20 Vartarg builds. This new Xcaliber barrel is doing very well shooting well under 1/2 inch groups and most around 3/8 MOA. Hart is still my go to source for a really good 20 caliber barrel that shoots well and cleans easy. Xcaliber I think is making a good barrel for alittle less money. I have another Xcaliber 20 Vartarg to chamber up and we will see how it works out.

Three Xcaliber 11 twist 3 Groove barrels have been chambered in 20 Vartarg and they all are shooting very well. 1/4 to 3/8 with the best loads. Xcaliber is making a very good 20 caliber barrel right now.

Im going to build myself another wonderful 20 Vartarg on a Remington 700 action. I always make the Remingtons single shot varmint rifles. I have a Rock Creek barrel on my current 20 TAC and i may try another Rock Creek for this build. I have Two 20 Vartargs at the moment. One is CZ 527 with Xcaliber barrel and the other a Interarms mini mauser with Hart barrel. The 20 Vartarg is my all time absolute Favorite for Eastern Groundhogs!

Just finished barreling me another 20 Vartarg. This time with a Rock Creek HV 24 Stainless tube on a Rem 700 Action. Used a JGS Reamer specd for Lapua Brass. Bedding into HS Precision Stock tonight. I will report back once i shoot it. Should be like all other 20 Vartargs Absolute Tack Driver!

I have a new Hart barrel blank just show up. Remington Varmint contour 12 twist. It may become a future 20 Vartarg.

How does that happen? Have to admit to being just a little jealous. I never have barrels randomly show up at my door. Does this work for actions too?

What bullet weight are you planning on shooting with that? The reason I ask is that seems a little slow but then my next one (another 20 Extreme) will be set up to shoot the 55 grain Bergers so will be going with an eight twist.

If the barrel is a True 12 twist it will shoot bullets from 32-40 grain with great precision. Im talking 1/4 MOA. Hart makes a Fine 20 caliber barrel and i always just use a 12 twist for my builds.

Ok. I have a 20 Extreme with a 10 twist Benchmark barrel that shoots 40 grain V-Max lights out good with H 4198 but it won't work with the 55 grain.
I get fantastic results with the 55 grain Bergers and 8208 XBR in the other gun that has an 8 twist Bob Jury barrel on it. Pretty good results with a 40 grain in that one too but the 32's just didn't work out. It was set up for a heavy coyote gun so didn't really play much with lighter bullets on it.
