Looks like a shrunken 284 case,
did the Pigmy get a hold of it?

Default 22 Nosler

I bought a 22 Nosler barrel from Midway when they had them on sale. I also ordered brass and RCBS dies to load for the upper. I used Nosler website for loading information using CFE-223 and 55gr. Bullistic Tips for the loads. First round using starting load split case in the body area from shoulder to head of case. I notified Nosler that I may have received defective brass, but I have not heard back from them. Any similar experience?

Don.. I believe it is nothing more that the 6.8 Rem SPC case necked down to 224 and the rim rebated to fit the .223 bolt diameter. Does look like a interesting project. Would make a decent bolt action case, small like some of our other small case's that push the larger case's in accuracy and FPS i.e. 22.250 Rem. But think, for now anyway, I will just stick to my 22-250 in the bolt. However that side charger upper in 22 Nosler is kind of drawing me in. Bill K

Its like a longer necked (OAL) 6.8SPC. You could call the grandparent case the 35 Rem and the parent the 6.8SPC. 55K PSI MAP for 6.8SPC. Seriously doubt it will be a 62+K psi rated case, so basing MAP at 55K-58K is realistic.

Keith only shot it on a 50yd Range and used 62gr Nosler Factory Ammo. Keith said it shot well. I have a bunch of Brass spinning in the SS Pins and will load a bunch up for this weekend.

Steve.. Really interested in how well it shoots and what you really will be averaging as too FPS. Keep looking at the side charger upper, but other than maybe having it on the AR platform and semi-auto, I wonder if it is worth it, again as compared to my trusted old bolt action 22-250. And also what will it actually do compared to the 5.56 AR, along the same lines as to accuracy and FPS in the real world.. Know what I mean ?? Bill K

I made a couple 22 Nosler AR-15 barrels over the weekend. One was a 1:8 twist 18" ultra light barrel, and the other 1:12 twist 27" bull.

The 40gr Nosler BT flew 3707fps from the 18" tube and 4080fps from the 27".

Not only does Nosler have brass, but I believe I saw it listed with sleeping Giant brass also. Bill K
