Default cooper rifle test target

How far do they test the rifles???? I have heard different stories about the range they shoot the bughole group. Does anyone know the real yardage?

They really test them at 47 yards? Why not closer?

Default Cooper rifle test

I have heard it is 43 yards.. Why they use such close range, I do not know, but they do. Hey, they build them and they can do it the way they want. Bill K

Indoors, of course. Measured in feet, not yards
You have to think of it in terms of a function test, not an accuracy test.
The accuracy guarantee is what it is, 1/4" @ 50 yds for rimfire and 1/2" @ 100 yds for centerfire.

Some are one holers even if one can not chamber a round. Have an early 22PPC Model 21VE that came with a one hole test target and the rifle was short chambered and one could not chamber a round. On the plus side, Cooper fixed the problem and it is now the best shooting Cooper that I own. As Adam says, they test them in an enclosed hallway down one side of the building. I seem to remember being told that the distance was 38 yards but that was quite a few years ago.

If its a function test why do they shoot a group? And then include the test target with the gun?

That one hole test target sells a lot of rifles.
