Read somewhere in a discussion it's 2.30. Just repeating what I saw.

Does the Howa Mini work for the vartarg or does it have the same issues as a short action Remington? Has anyone done a vartarg on a mini?

Default Howa mini action

Go to the Legacy arms website, info on bolt/action length, etc.
As for will feeding issues still be with it, as to small action. Mostly a single shot, I would think, unless they ever come out with a 221 Fire ball length action/magazine. Wish they would. Bill K

Legacy website is trash. If there's any real info there its buried.

I very much dislike the trend to make websites phone compatible.

Just trying to help, they do have measurements and you can always call or email and get the info, straight from the horse's mouth, so too speak. Bill K

Default Oal

As a rule I look at the longest cartridge that platform offers, in this case it's probably the 223 at 2.26. I can't see them redesigning a magazine when the next, a 7.62x39 is 2.20, in fact they are probably the same with maybe a different follower. You'll get a little more obviously so you can count on 2.75-2.80, counting on anything more is a gamble. No manufacturer is going to tell you any more than the Saami spec for the cartridge unless you happen to get some numb nut on the phone. It's all down side for them, they would be basically saying, "hey go ahead, load it long, it's ok".

I'm pretty sure the mini and the short action use the same magazine.
They don't list a mini only magazine in the catalog I have, just a short action .223 for both
The .223 short action mags I have run around 2.330 inside, you would have to run short of that for proper function
