X4 for the 20 VarTarg!!! Others to consider would be 20 Practical and 20 Tactical...BUT the VarTarg will change your opinion on small cartridge size. Remember that the goal is NOT size but what will give the greatest amount of pleasure over time. There are some of us here on the forum that have found our other guns collect dust as we always gravitate back to the VarTarg for our shooting pleasure. Let us know what your choice is as we are always interested in what others are up to. Charlie

Tac .20. Easy for brass - done deal.

A .204 Ruger would also work, but brass can be problematic depending on location I guess.

I agree with Bill. I myself am leaning towards a Valkyrie. You would have to open up the bolt face a little if you go that route. I think a Valkyrie necked down to a 20 would be a sweet little hot rod

Wow! Too many choices!!!

I have 17 Rem., 17 Ackley Hornet, 20 Tactical, 204 Ruger already so I am really looking for something on the .222 or .223 case.

The 22 Nosler has me thinking a lot, but the bolt on this little action is quite small in diameter. Does anyone know who has a reamer for it and how large a diameter bolt is needed?

Thanks for all the suggestions, I have a lot to think about.

I put mine into a Boyds thumbhole stock.

This is the right idea for your action, It will feed slick as grease and eject properly.

If you are going to shoot high volume the Vartarg is the logical choice and favorite among many varmint shooters. For lower volume you have many choices and few are bad.

All in all, it is hard to beat the 20 caliber, especially the popular chamberings. Low recoil, superb ballistics and plenty of bullet choices.

Default 20/222

Unless you know that the action will feed and extract a case based on the 221fb I would look at a 20/222. Everything about that choice is easy. From brass to dies, feeding and extraction, they're all straight forward.
