Bighornbob is back
Hello guys,
A lot has taken place in my life since my last post. End of story I am now living in Phoenix, Az. and back into the small calibers. Adam Bentley just finished a BAT in 22BR for me. I have a SS Model 700 on it's way in .204 Ruger . I will get back into load development and hunting the local coyotes... Bighornbob

Bighorn Bob
Hi Bob,
Good to see you settled and back into small caliber rifles. Welcome home! That 22 BR seems a little big, however.

Wow, that was quite a move. I'm getting ready to move 1000 miles away too. Any advice on moving with guns, powder and primers that movers won't take?

Good to hear Bob. I have family that lives in Phoenix. Out on the southeast side. They moved out there a few months ago from Chicago. They love it out there. They have a real nice gun range that they go to out there and they have an abunance of yotes there to!

Regarding moving, I think it depends on the specific driver and crew you are work with. I have moved twice in the last 20 years, and both companies were okay with moving guns, as long as I had an inventory and details that could be checked and audited. My list was an Excel spreadsheet with all the relevant FFL type records, make, model number, S/N, caliber, etc. All guns were cased. One driver would move powder and primers, but the other would not. For that time, I had a pickup with a tonneau cover, so I moved it myself. Between ammunition and powder/primers I had about 3/4 of the bed full. I did follow fire laws and built a wooden box for powder storage. I think the legal limit was 100lbs at the time. Don't know what the laws are now. Ammo was tightly packed in original boxes or in MTM plastic boxes in moving cartons or in GI ammo cans and stacked. I had no problems at all. Hope this helps.

Regarding the move. I bubble wrapped all rifles and scopes and moved them locked in the gun safes. I moved my own powders and primers in common boxes. I pulled a 30 foot trailer with those items.
