We have access to a 200 yard range with one bench- not really condusive to a group event. But hopefully by the end of summer we'll have a nice 450 yard range, anybody interested in coming to sw Iowa?

Where is everyone located?

Maybe we can find some middle ground and then start looking for an applicable range.

I would definitely be interested as long as I'm not driving 12 hours to get there.

SW iowa, is up to 3.5 hours away for me...I would come. Is there room for portables? Big enough back stop? I think there is a couple other ranges, I just have to check them out...Brownells/Sinclair Int. has one, just don't know if it available to the public or not, it is about an hour from Cedar Rapids and Des Moines. There are others as well...just gotta check.

I live in Creston, and at the moment shoot at the Tri Lake Shooters range in Lenox. It is a nice enough range, a small covered area with one bench and berms at 15, 25, 50, 75, 100 and 200 yards.

There is a public rec area just to the se of Creston around 3 Mile Lake. The DNR is building a range on the north side of the lake into a natural backstop at about 450 yards. There will eventually be a 50 yard pistol range, a 100 yard rimfire range and the centerfire range with berms from 50 out to the aforementioned 450 yards.

If anyone would like to come down in the meantime the 200 yard range is better than nothing, but hopefuly by the end of summer we'll have a proper range to invite folks to.

I wonder if the DNR will have you shoot in those culverts ?
I shot in one in Southern Iowa, and those culverts will leave your ears ringing!
I know they help keep the sound down.

We have a D N R range north of town . They used to have culverts to shoot thru. I assume there still there. I found it more economical to rejoin my sportsman club and drive 60 miles round trip. You pay by the hour at D N R. $50 dues for the sportsman club . Covered concrete benches and can shoot to 200 yards.

Ray,

I sure wish I could put another one together. I'd be happy to bring the lobsters. Considering that amount of shimp you've ponied up over the years.

I think the only way that shoot will happen is if Wayne or Chuck can put it together.

Sure was an enjoyable time to meet new friends and play with new toys.

I miss it.
