Range
Had a local chicken farmer who was infested with bunnies last year, cci segmented quiets solved that over a few weekends. It is Spring here and I have yet to hear of a bunny problem, or see any in the area. The count was around 50 and the Eagles did the rest of the work on the little ones.
Kept the range under 50 yards and took only head shots, it sounded about as loud as a Sheridan, but had far more thump on thumpers. Grackles are too thin to slow a 22lr down much, so if the backstop is not solid, I would use a pellet rifle and save a visit from an angry neighbor or leo. How far is that grackle/bird feeder from the porch? |

Tite group is another good powder for reduced loads I make 22mag level loads with it. I have also read solo 1000, clays, bullseye, the Dot powders green, red, blue, w231/hp38 work well also.

Are you doing that in a hornet or something else like a .223 Rem?

.223 short (a 5/8" shortened wildcat 16gr H2o case capacity)
40gr armscor bullet does 2200 ft/sec with 3.5gr of TG and does right at MOA. very quiet! easily between 22lr and 22mag in report. |

Get yourself a silenced PCP and a hand pump to get going. You will open up a new world of fun. Several expanding pellets now to find an accurate one. The only problem is sometimes you end up with 10 or more, a compressor and a few tanks.

Accuracy wise I've only shot it to 25 meters indoors - 1/4" or a bit tighter for 10 shots. Runs about 22fpe. It likes most pellets worthy of putting through an animal - H&N Barracuda Extreme 19.09gr., 16.0gr. Predators, 21.3gr.RN H&H Match, Crossman 14.43gr. FN HP's One nice feature of the Gauntlet, is you can unscrew the 13 cu.i.n tank which is good for 64-70 shots, and screw on a 9 or 12oz., CO2 tank. In the 70F summer temps, the video I saw on that changed, said the 12oz. co2 tank was good for 500 to 600 shots at about 19fpe, so it is more powerful than the high-powered ACCURATE German made springers, ie: Weirhauch. The Gauntlet comes with a 10 shot mag and uses the inexpensive Crossman Marauder mags. Having 4 or 5 of them in your pocket makes for a decent walk-about in the gopher patch. yeah- its ugly
