custom chamber inserts
Who is actually able to make chamber inserts?
I do mean the standard cartridges inserts that let you fire 32acp in a 30-06. But also something like the AR 22lr conversion kits |

The GI 22lr conversion for an AR15/M16 is called M-261. And they work just fine. H-K also made a complete 22lr conversion to fit into a H-K M-91 or G3.
There used to be a conversion chamber for some commercial chambers that advertised in classified ads in Shotgun News, but I can't recall their name. Last edited by TinMan; 08-06-2018 at 12:36 PM. |

I'm unfamiliar with this kit. How does a .3125 bullet go through a .308 bore?

308/312
Sir, it is not uncommon for custom smithsto use .308 barrels for .32 caliber handguns. Contender used .308 barrels for their 32/20's, also called 30/20's. Years before the 17 HMR, 17HM-2, a guy in Australia made 17 caliber barrels with a long tapered chamber/throat and shot rimfire 22's through it. One of the custom Smith's here in the states chambered 17 and 20 caliber barrels using his design. I bought a few and had a chamber reamer made when he quit building them after the 17 rimfires came out. Swaging bullets down in forcing cones or throats has been around a long time. PO, actually did research and testing at one time also on running larger bullets through smaller barrels.
