Default OT- Shoot Rt or LT-Warning long book

I come face to face with this dilemma, forty some years ago.
The year I bought my first bow, my 12yr old wanted one also.
I bought him a cheap right handed bow and some arrows.
We would shoot (round bale backer) some of his arrows were
right in there and some missed the bale by a foot to the left.
We moved his target to the right side of the bale backer.
Now he would have two groups. Right handed but left eye dominate.
One group in his target and another, three feet or so to the left.
An old timer at a local archery shop, told us, the best thing we could do
was make him shoot left handed. DON'T let him close one eye.
That coming spring the boy wanted a new boy so he could hunt the next fall.
I told him, I would buy him a new bow but it had to be left handed.
He wanted no part of that.
He thought it over and a couple hours later. he went for it.
We went to a reputable (knows their stuff) archery shop.
I told the proprietor, we wanted a left hand compound bow that would fit his draw at 30lb and could go up to 60lb and a longer draw later.
We left there with a wood limb Darton, set at 32lb.
He moaned and groaned since he had been shooting 45lb right handed.
By fall he was shooting legal Ohio weight.
He got his deer that year with a ML.
He has gotten lots of deer with that old Darton.
When he climbs into his tree stand this fall his old bow will be asked
to do it's job one more time. Kenny

Rifle story coming if you can stand any more.

I'm in the same boat as your boy Kenny. Left eye dominant but right handed. I shoot LH bows but buy RH bolt rifles. Not that big of a deal once you work it out.

MIKE

My son has always shot whatever I had.

He has told me many times, he's so glad I made him go left handed bow.

I made the statement a few years ago, that he was probably used to

shooting. Right handed rifles.

He said I would love to have a left handed CZ.

I had given him a right handed one a few years earlier.

I bought a left hand CZ 527 223 and made him a walnut thumb hole

stock and give it to him. He wanted it closed up for a single shot

like I do most of mine. I took my right handed one back. Kenny

You still doing ok?
