Still here, but nothing to add from me. I didn't re-read the whole old post, but I believe Cooper changed their numbering protocol a few years ago. I think they went to a straight number, no prefix, unless it was a special model.

I'll guess TK13 is a 17 HeeBee!

Smile Altho I may have been a top Cooper owner...

… I think Vern (Lunde Sr) had more at any one time than I did! I certainly enjoyed each and every one of the Coopers that I owned, when Dan Cooper sold out I had peaked out and don't think I have bought one since. No disparaging remarks about the new owners intended!

My main target was the groundhog, and about at that time the 'yotes moved into our area and we just stopped seeing any 'hogs. My young kids were taking up a major amount of my time, etc., and waterfowl was trying to eat so many of our crops that I got goosenaped!

Don't post as often now, but look at things almost every night, try to ease registering for newbies and do a lot of lurking.

Alex

Default serial numbers

From 1990 to 2005 Cooper serial numbers were a combination of letter prefix and numbers. The letters stood for different calibers.

Sometime in 2005 they switched to just numbers. I don't know the starting number, the lowest I've seen is around 2100. The highest number I've seen is in the 13300 range from 2012.

In 2012 Cooper switched to the current CF prefixed serial numbers. I believe the numbers started at CF20000.

Into this mix you have to add the custom serial numbers that people ordered.

Is that TK13 Cooper a Todd Kindler rifle?

In the early days when there were only Varminter Extremes being made, Cooper used only one letter followed by a number. An example would be "G 13" which was a 17 Mach iv, and presumably the 13th made(unless there were custom serial numbers ordered before that gun was made). The Alpha prefixes used for the different chamberings, were the same as posted earlier in this thread.

Default serial numbers

Correct. "A" prefix for .223; "AI" for .223 Ackley Improved; "D" for 6x45; "E" for .221 Fireball; "F" for .17 Remington; "L" for .17AH; "P" for .204 Ruger; "R" for .22 Hornet. These are a few I've seen over the years.
