Default Moved to CO and thought I'd try PD hunting

I hear guys complain about how hard it is to find somewhere to go. It's even worse when your alone-no friends, no family, no children. All the outfitters want 'groups'. Guess I got to the party too late.

Maybe ask a few questions around some local gun shops or local office or state office of game dept or a BLM biologist in the area. Often they will help or know of places that you might be able to hunt in. Who knows one might even be a PD shooter and invite you along. Bill K

Buy "OnX maps" and go find some public land. Certainly there is some left in CO with PD's roaming around on it.

Just drive around until you spot a town, make note of location. You can buy county plat ownership maps which shows property owners and in the back they have phone numbers. Make a call and see what happens. Where abouts are you located in CO.?

Use to drive around in the mountains mainly north park and middle park and glass a lot. Usually found small towns of pd's and it was open land. Had a few run ins with cattlemen who said that we couldn't shoot there but since it was open range and we were not shooting at cows it ended peacefully. We found towns in unusual places like on the sides of hills and in small valleys. Mostly practicing for mule deer or elk hunting in the fall. We didn't set up benches and take 100's of shots but we had full days shooting and shot from positions we would use hunting. Plus it was fun getting out and about. We shot .22's and center fire rounds and as we got closer to hunting season we took out the guns we would use for big game. Had some really great times.

Default Pretty country....

I think the Flat tops may have some dogs ,I have always wanted to check that area out.The Pawnee grass lands are public and have some dogs, but they are on the eastern plain, kinda far.North into Wyoming has dogs and no license needed for varmints
