Default 20 Ackley Hornet

I am about to run in a new 20 Ackley Hornet. It is a 26" Krieger 1-12 twist on a Brno ZKW action. Todd Kindler worked up to around 3500 fps with a 33 gn Vmax.

Can those of you that have given the 20 hornet a go please provide advice on loads they have worked up.

I am starting with 10.5gn of H4227 as a fireforming load with a 34gn FBHP Nosler Shots. But aim to use the 30 to 32 grain bullets for hunting. I am using Redding 17AH Form die 1 to form necks and a Wilson 17AH bushing neck die for reloading.

26" barrel, tad long IMO. A 22" will give almost a 100% complete burn. I would be worried about losing velocity with the other 4" of barrel. Kinda like the 17M2, anything over 18" is slowing the bullet down. As far as starting loads, give me a min. Adam

I am thinking that real soon I will be seeing a 20 AH contender barrel show up in the mail and i will then be in your shoes

Considering how much fun I have with my 5mm mag I am suspecting this small 20 will be a hoot to shoot!

Default 20 Ack Hornet

Using AR2205/H4227 I am getting the following velocity results with 32gn BKs and Rem 7.5s.

11.5gn ... 3100fps
11.8gn ... 3190fps
12.3gn ... 3250fps

For reference Kindler got 3101fps at 12.5gn H4227.

At 12gn I am compressing the load so I plan to give 2400 or N110 a try.

Kindler went up to 14gn in a 1.4" max length case. Note I have a 1.36" max length case to fit magazine.

Does anyone have some results they can share.

Have not received my 20 AH yet but when it arrives I'll post what I come up with. May not work out but I plan to try Enforcer and 1680 as well as 4227 and maybe lilgun???

Had the CZ 22 K-H out today and the darn thing couldn't miss... weird thing is I grabbed a couple boxes of ammo and when I got to the PD town I didn't recognize it. Not sure but it may have been from Adam... what ever those bullets were they did a splendid job on them lil rats!

Can’t wait to play with the 20 AH

Sorry nothing to constructive...but man I am just dieing for one of these specifically; one of these days I'm going to come across the right one.

There is only one thing I like more than a CZ 527 for a centerfire...and that is a Brno! To me there is and never has been a sweeter small caliber action than a pristine Brno ZKW-465. JMHO. They have got to be one of the most esthetically pleasing and most balanced rifles I have ever held. The only thing that rivals it is a Brno Model #1 in 22 LR which is was modeled after. Anyway, congrats on your rifle...looking forward to pictures.

Default .20 Hornet.....

26" bbl is way long. Had one years ago with a 20" tube. Wish it had been 22". That is optimal. Can't remember load data.
