Sierra?

They just dropped the .264 85gr varminter.... Not enough demand Hornady and Sierra both claimed, concerning both bullets.

It appears that with all the newer rounds, fast twists and long heavy bullets for caliber are the trend at the moment. Progress and change, something that leaves some of us older guys seeing our favorites going away..

Bahahaha!!! That's funny, good one.

I guess if they'd have had a larger market share we could have called them the jumbo shrimp of the bullet world.

Heck, it’s had to have been five years since Berger quit making the good 25 gr HP’s. Even longer for the 30’s.

This just chaps my a$$ the more I think about it.

There's still quite a bit of the Hornady .17 cal 25gr HP inventory sitting on the shelves of the different places I've been to so if a person needs to stock up with some of this stuff, it's out there and available for purchase.

May need to track some down. I've used the 25 grain HP for years in the 17 Rem. I just did an inventory and no HP, 250 25 grain V-MAX and a thousand 22 1/2 grain Budd Tanner bullets. Yikes.

I like them Aaron, certainly worth trying in your 17s ,just haven’t got around to ordering any of his heavier offerings yet as I have been hoarding a lot of the different 30 grains out there. Will probably never shoot all that I have in my lifetime,it’s time to get out and bust some dogs

I hate to hear this. I did stock up on about 500 rounds this past year so I will be good for awhile but why they would discontinue this tried and true bullet I don't understand. I guess if enough people reach out to them to voice their opinion maybe they will reconsider. It's not like they don't have the molds etc. already set up to make them.

I am guessing that they are a very very small portion of their .17 bullet sales. If it was selling well they would not get rid of it. And then we still have a couple of barrel makers telling us to order a 1-10 barrel

Default 17 Bergers

Several years back the 25gr HP in 17cal were hard to find. So I tried the 25gr HP Berger, great bullet. However had to go up .2 grains in H414 to get the accuracy like the Hornady, never went back. Rifle is a Copper Model 21 MVT 17Rem. It is my go to killem gun.
