Default 20VT Donor Action Possibility

Does anyone know if the Remington 700 AAC-SD tactical rifle in 300 Blackout has a 221 Fireball equivalent boltface? I'm looking for an action and bolt for a custom build, and prefer using a small Fireball boltface instead of the typical small 223 boltface. Thanks, Don.

They all are based off the .223 case, so they will all work. Bill K

Don,

The 300 blackout is based off of a .221 Fireball case, since it appears that you will be using this action for a 20 vartarg it will work perfectly.

Good luck with your project.

Phil.

The bolt faces are the same size, but are the spring loaded ejectors in the same place on the 221 and the 300 bolts? Moving the ejector location for the 221 was Remington's solution for issues with standard 223 rifle bolts being used for early 221's that had ejection problems.

Just curious.............

The answer to your question is YES - the 300 BO extractor is located the same as the 221 FB - at least it was on an AAC version that I had.

Bayou - yes, that was my concern and the reason for asking. I do not want to use a Model 7 action since I have a new HS stock for a 700 BDL. The 700 300 Blackout tacticals go for around $650, so I can sell of the parts I don't want and still have a fireball boltface - hopefully. Not a standard 223 boltface. Don

Default confusion ?

Just in case no one has mentioned it, the 221 FB is the same bolt face as the 300 Blackout. Both can be made from 223 brass. Hope this clears up any confusion.
Ok Ok I'm being a wise guy.

ddkearney Good luck with your project. sgtg out
