Default An unusual find........small caliber........

Yesterday I ran across something that is a bit unusual to find at this point in time. I found a like-new Kimber 17M2 handgun. It came with the original Kimber plastic box and an extra magazine.

I know that Kimber had some functioning problems with these when they brought them out and they didn't last very long as a production item partly because of that and also due to ammo availability, but the seller stated through a mutual friend that he had shot it and it worked fine but he could never find ammo. So he dumped it cheap.

If it won't work as a 17M2, a Kimber 22LR Conversion Kit for these guns can be had for about $340 +/-, which is more than the price for this pistol. All in all a very cheap 1911 RF maybe in two interchangeable cartridges.

It's going south in a few days for it's baptism as a 17M2. Fingers crossed..........

Sweet! Didn’t realize they made one...

I want a 17 HM2 auto and or revolver! Came close recently on a Ruger auto recently...

Good job Hal!!!

Be sure to use newer ammo and even though CCI didn’t recommend it, I would do a push test on every single round that I would run through an auto loader. I believe it’s absolutely necessary.

Can’t wait to hear a report. Meanwhile I’ll be having sleepless nights dreaming about it lol!

Good score there, Hal. I almost bought one when they first came out, but ammo availability scared me off.

As you probably know by now, I'm a fan of both the 1911 and .22LR's in general and have two Kimber Rimfire Conversions, the 5" Target and the 3" Compact. Both shoot almost as good as my S&W M41 or my Colt Woodsman Match Target.....almost. Great fun while out launching squirrels with a rifle or just on walkabout.

If the M2 does not work out, you'll still have a dandy little pistol with a Kimber conversion. You can find them online for much less than retail too. And if nothing else, you've found a real collectable item that seems purty scarce.

Default ammo?

Curious about Charlies comment about the ammo. I've heard about cases splitting? Which brands?
