thank Hal and the best to you and yours!

Today is the highlight of 17 so far for me.

A young guy at work tells me last week he's thinking he wants to purchase a 17 Bmag. I figured he might as well try before he buys so yesterday I take him my very early model bmag and a box of 20s telling him that it scatters these 20s but it'll shoot the 25s.

I actually put a Boyd's laminated stock, a new set of rings and a bsa scope made to shoot both the 20 & 25 gr bullets. I think I was not happy with my scope purchase and didn't even finish relieving the barrel channel and just lost interest.

Well he found a box of the 25s and got his first (one shot) kill at ~150 yards. Made me smile even though I didn't pull the trigger!

GW:
That's the trick pard! Get the newbies out to try 'em
and they'll take the bait.

Been thinking I need to get out and burn some of this ammo I've
been loading up for years. 30 cal can of .17 VR's, 1000 20VT's.
No clue how many 38's, 45 Colts and bunch of others. AND I'm
still loading!

I have a gallon paint can marked: 11#'s 5.7 brass. IF n whenever I run
out of 38's and .40's I plan to run them thru the form die. What the heck,
just as well make that a 50 cal can, I have two rifles for the .17VR. Man
can't ever have too many guns, or ammo, right?

I'll bite.

I have a 17 Mk 1V left handed Cooper coming for my Grandson tomorrow, but I won't need to load for it for some time.

I am ready to push primers in 300 cases of 17 Fireball soon for Spring's Skippy flight lessons, and I will most likely be using my 17HMR, 17HH, 17fb and probably the 204 I have 3 year old ammo to burn up with my 17's. My problem is, I need to try and burn up ~10k plastic tipped lead 17's by July 2019. I am considering gathering all my 30 grain 17 calibers and converting them into lead-free 17 caliber bullets....Oh wait, there aren't any readily available.

I sure do like my 17's, but California is a PITA for them. I need to shoot my Javalena at Skippy before it becomes a paper puncher only, or find a lawyer to get me a "get out of jail" card until someone makes lead free 17's.

Seems like almost everyone on here shoots and likes the 17 Hmr! Do you guys think it's the new king of rim fires?

Nope. Split necks, failures to fire, bullets stuck up the barrel when only the primer goes off and exploding gun if you don't notice that that is what just happened.

To me, the King of rimfire still wears a 22 sized crown, even though I sold mine a long time ago.

17 centre fires however, now we're talking...

I weigh all rim fire cases and measure rim thickness ! So what you say has never happened to me. And in the last 100 years I'm surely be once or twice split case and 22 led not going off have happened a couple of times! I take it you've never shot the Win 22lr wildcat!?
