Default BSA Martini - Hornet?

In my research on a falling block action, I have a few questions:

Is a BSA Martini considered a true falling block?

Does this action lend itself to good accuracy in a .22 Hornet?

Thanks!

Default martini hornet

I own several Martini's in Hornet, K Hornet, and Hornet based wildcats and....I can't believe I'm saying this....No. Can you build an accurate Martini Hornet, sure, mine are. But, "Does this action lend itself to good accuracy in a .22 Hornet?". The combination of average to poor trigger, typical accuracy issues with any 3pc falling block(Ruger No1, Hi and low wall's, M97's) and just plain design limitations make it a marginal pick if accuracy is your goal. I would say all of my centerfire Martini's with custom handloads will shoot sub MOA at a 100yd range. Will I pick a fight with a well heeled bolt gun, no way....unless a buddy of mine is shooting it, I'd take him on with a slingshot Not sure what a "true falling block" is, the Martini has a breechblock that has to be dropped to load and raised to fire.

Steve,

Chuck knows his chit when it comes to Martini rifles

knowing you're addicted to accuracy like myself and many others here, you'll likely be disappointed trying to chase tiny groups

Default Martini

I've wanted a Martini for the last 30 years and just never got one, several weeks ago a guy at out club had one, it was a 22 lr target rifle. I complimented him on what a beautiful rifle it was. He wouldn't let me alone until I shot it, I couldn't believe how hard the trigger pull was, I just can't believe that trigger on a target rifle?

Steve: The Martini is not a true falling block action, as the block does not withdraw downward through the receiver. The Martini block does not withdraw down through the action but pivots at the rear and only the front tips down enough to allow a round to be chambered, hence a tipping block action.

Phh,
It's along time since i was a lad and used one at a local club, from memory (vague with age) they had adjustable triggers but came from the BSA factory set somewhere around 3 lb pull.
As you say, unbelievable on a target rifle.
Ken.
