Savage trigger
I have looked at several options for the pre accu trigger models.
All of them seem to have mixed reviews. I questioned some folks mechanical abilities myself. Buddy had a Striker years back and he put a dandy trigger in it, forget what it was. Jeff |

I have an early Sharp Shooter Supply trigger when they first came out. Put it in my '95 vintage 12BVSS-S. I like it a lot. Breaks clean and right at 2 lbs. No problems with use, and the installation was pretty simple. I did have to file the safety lever a bit to make it function properly, but the instructions were clear and effective.

I ended up putting a sss competition trigger in my pre accutrigger. I like it a lot. Installation was straight forward and good instructions.

Depends on what you're out to do. I have used both models of the Rifle Basix Savage triggers and am pleased with both. It's also possible to modify the original triggers to incorporate an overtravel stop and basically make it like the less expensive Rifle Basix without any machining, but there are limits to how light you can make it. Mine incorporates a spring from a ball point pen. All in all, if you want to go real light, go with the Rifle Basix SAV-2.

I agree on the over travel. A lot of excess over travel can make a pretty good trigger seem terrible.

In my experience the sav2 won't go near as light (sub 1 lb) as the SSS and stay safe.

I have both the SAV-2, 2, and the SSS drop in triggers, 2. I have a SAV-2 set at 5oz and it passes the drop test. I have another rifle that would not go below 14oz. The problem with the Savage rifles is no two are the same in respect to the sear, and geometry. The tgrigger that SSS installs , is a different matter, much lighter, IF, you are willing to send him your action for time and true. I am in the never will category.
