20 ah
There has to be at least one other guy that shoots the weird stuff and know the answer to this.

I have not built a 20 ackley hornet yet but still might. based on the reamer print, I would not want the case to reach the end of the chamber, so to speak, and that is 1.400 if it were me I would try .010 shorter and see if it gave me any issues. would you mind sharing your load and velocities as I am still thinking about one of these. Jim, Thanks I just started with this cartridge in a contender carbine, 22" barrel. Unfortunately I was squeezed for time so I fire formed 50 brass, privin partisan brand. Had zero issues and used 12.0 AA1680 and Rem 7.5 with a 32 Sierra BK. They formed great and shot well, about 1" at 100 yards. Then I loaded up a few of the formed cases with 13.0 AA 1680 and the same bullet and primer. That I believe is a conservative load. I shot a few PDs with it and the terminal performance was very good (very explosive at 100 yards or so). I will do more load development in coming weeks and try to post it with some chrono results. |

I used that brass for my 22k hornet and the neck walls were about .003 thicker than other brass.

Here's the reamer print Kiff sent me they said it was to the reamer I had purchased, does this help?
As it is a wildcat that to my knowledge was not actually developed by P.O. Ackley it can be whatever a guy wants. When I called Kiff the young lady told me they had a whole bunch of .20 Ackley Hornet reamer prints about 20 or 25 as memory serves. Most would say 1.400 I believe but my formed cases are shorter than that by a bit and well short of what I measured.

Dale, I always make a chamber OAL gage with the little spuds you can get from Sinclair's and measure actual chamber OAL. It is amazing what you find sometimes, especially with wildcats and custom reamed chambers.
