My understanding is that CZ may have actually built two prototype 5mm's on the 452 but they had more concerns and issues regarding feeding than anything to do with pressures. I think that means a whole new design for mag wells, magazines etc...that R&D & tooling cost money and may seem like a poor or slow ROI in an economy such as this.

TOU, I don't have the inside contact that you must have at CZ, I can only go with what I was told at the SHOT show.

Savage has problems with pressure and designing around it as did Ruger. Both Savage and Ruger felt that if there was not a chance of having old ammo shot in new rifles they would be more interested in bringing something out.

The 5MM is a different case than 22 mag. so I can see where they might have had to change things to make it work but I think that high pressures and old ammo keep all of them from proceeding, it not like 5mm hasn't been loaded from magazines and tubes before.

Not having an oar in the water anywhere on this issue, I would have to agree with Lowell that pressure is probably the bigger issue.

Feeding and magazines are both easy fixes..... The actual case head size is unique to the 5MM RF cartridge, but beyond that there is nothing magical or different about the cartridge case that should present insurmountable problems not related to pressure.
