Default Flash hole deburr

Had the tip come out of my Lyman flash hole deburr tool shaft yesterday. I am seeing if it will reattach with some steel epoxy. Wondering if anyone has a strong recommendation for an alternative, manual tool. Seems like RCBS and Sinclair don't offer the "universal" pilot, so I would need a number of pilots if I went that route, and I'd prefer not to.

I had the exact same occurrence with the RCBS so it got soldered. I have the Sinclair for smaller calibers 17 and 20 it's advantage is it's one piece construction but as you noted separate pilots.

Is the Lyman tip threaded? I always thought mine was, but never checked.
If it is, clockwise use should never loosen.

WTH

Just use a proper sized drill bit.

IF you want, put a small wood handle on it
to save finger tips, couple drops of super glue
to hold it one will last forever.

That ain't no tricky challenge.

Default Lyman Threaded:

STRKR: the shaft is threaded into the handle, but the cutting tip is a separate piece glued and inserted into the end of the shaft. That is the failure point.

What causes the failure ? I have one, like that, have used it for over 20 years, I believe and it is still working as it was intended .

Thumbs up K&M...........

They "headspace" on the internal case web.

17's and 20's are caliber specific.

Plus.....available for different flash hole diameters.

I've a "collection" of them.....for over 20 years.

Good stuff!!

I have had the Lyman for around 30 years also, and it is still working as far as I recall. The bit is a standard size center drill, but can't remember the tip diameter. I would think if it came out, just clean and degrease it and epoxy it back together.

Same same on all points........ I've never had a single problem with my Lyman.
