Default Budget build 20PPC?

Howa mini barreled actions are available for pretty cheap. I'm considering picking up a 6.5 Grendel for the PPC bolt face, then rebarreling with a prefit in 20PPC. Not really wanting the detachable magazine, but new bottom metal is costly, has anyone just bedded the flat bottom of the action and glue a single shot tray into the stock? I'd be making the stock myself from a blank, so odd inletting isn't an issue. Anyone done a single shot on the mini? Thanks!

I took a mini in the Grendel and rebarreled it to 22PPC. Did not change the magazine and for single shooting I just drop the cartridge on top of the empty mag and it feeds just fine. So I can single feed, this way, or use the magazine loaded, for multiple feeding.
