My 1-13 twist 6x47mm will easily do 80 grain bullets, I suspect that 90 rain bullets should work just fine.

Default 6x47

I've tried 85 grain Sierra HPBTs in my 14 twist Cooper and got good results.

Default 6x47 Rem.

Not sure there ever was a 6x47 Ackley Improved. The story goes with the advent of the Sporter Class in NBRSA competiion in 1960 Mike Walker was consulted as to what 6mm cartridge would fullfill the Sporter requirement of a 6mm or better cartridge. Mike a former ordinance ofiicer in the Army felt the .222 Rem. Mag necked up to accept 6mm bullets would be a good choice. Mike was right the newly Remington cartridge was named 6x47 Rem.

The 6x47 Rem. dominated the Sporter class from 1960 till about 1983 according to NBRSA shoot reports. After 1983 most shooters had bought into the PPC. By 1983 smiths had opened up enough deuce bolt faces (.378) to accept PPC (.439) case head sizes. Even .308 (.473) bolts were modified to accpt PPC head sizes .

My Ackley books list the 6x47 Rem. but do not change the shoulder angle and body taper to be able to call the 6x47 Rem an Ackley Improved. I have had 6x47 barrels since 1975.

Default Probably Not Same

A 6x47 Remington has a shoulder of 23 deg. Heaven only knows what a 6x47 AI has for a shoulder angle and what body taper. I still don't think your 6x47 is an Ackley model don't think Ackley did this, none of his books talk about an AI model. Besides not everything Ackley did improved anything. Hope you have sizing dies for your Wildcat.

AI meaning improved, not necessary for Parker Otto to touch it to bear his style. What was the statement, the ultimate form of flattery is imitation. Adam

Adam you are exactly right .Probably many cartridges that have a 40* shoulder have been dubbed Ackley Improved.

Pacific Tool still lists it in their reamer selector site .

So far a Redding 223 Ackley type s full length bushing die has done the job . Expanded the neck to .243 with a tapered sizing button and use it to resize. Use a Lee seating die for that step .

Also used a .233 and a .228 bushing to neck size L C 09 brass down for 20 Practical that is in the works.
