Thumbs down 204 with 39gr Blitzking

I have had very good luck with Benchmark powder in my other small caliber rifles and would like to work up a load the the 39 gr Blitzking bullets.

Any suggestions?

There are a few 204R's out there that do not like the 39 BK. I have one!! If you think powder will solve it's ailment I have been having great results with IMR 8208 XBR in the 204.

I'm dyed in the wool 204 addict. Benchmark, 4895, and especially R10X have been good for me in the past. Recently tried some 8208 and I love it. If your 204 won't shoot 39 Sierra or 35 Berger bullets, trade it off. Don't beat a dead horse, just get another one. This is typically a very accurate cartridge and those bullets work for over 90% of the rifles out there.

Thumbs up Rl10x

Both my Rem LVSF & Ruger 77VT love 25.1gr of RL10X under the 39gr SBK's.....YMMV

I have had great luck with all the bullets involved in this conversation, 35 Bregers have typically been the best groups in all. I have had success with Varget, 8208, Benchmark, and RL10x. One of my rifles would shoot any bullet I fed it, with any powder, just about any charge, and any powder I gave it.

I was lucky! It shot .4's to .5's with all the above.

39gr. Siaerras are the only thing mine likes.

Reloader 10x and 8208 are the ones that work for me. That and hanging the bullets out as far as I can.

What is your guns twist rate? If it's a factory button rilfed barrel the twist rate can be plus or minus 1/2 turn if it's a 1 in 12 and 1/2 you're out of luck.

But for some reason my TAC 20 1 in 9 just hates that bullet.

My factoory Rem doesn't care for BKs. Shoots every thing else, Berger, Nosler, Vmax and hornady in assorted weights all great. See http://www.saubier.com/forum/showthr...eferrerid=4722

Red face 204

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I tried loads from 25 to 25.6 grains of Benchmark and got good results at 25.6. One hole measuring .305 for five shots.

Unfortunately our 100 yard range is flooded so this was shot at 50 yards.

I hope the range dries out by next week and then we will see what it will do at 100 yards.

My rifle is a CZ 527 Varmint with a Bushnell 4200 scope.

Norm
