Sako 6ppc...starting off..58gr and 65 gr Vmax loads..
Gentlemen- any thoughts on where to start with the above mention bullets. Looking to start breaking in a rifle I purchased last year.
Sako 6ppc repeater, never been shot. All factory besides a recent trigger job, other than that, totally stock. Looking for powders and primer recommendations. Will be starting with new Norma brass. Been on some other forums and got some good info, just wondering if you guys would care to share your experiences with me. PS. I understand fully that this isn't a "benchrest gun shooting benchrest loads". I am an avid reloader and shoot my fair share, just my first time working with a 6ppc. Thank you all for your help. |

What powders do you have?
Not PPC specific but similar case capacity 6TCU 2200 and 450's is a winner with 55-58's. Works very well in 6BR too. RL7, the 4198's, Norma 200, N130-133, and a tick slower ball powders (2200, 2230, 335, 2460) would be the ticket. H322, 2015, Benchmark might be on the too slow side for 55-58's. With good cases you should be able to hit 3700 FPS with the 58. Oh forgot about LT-30 and LT-32. Western Powders has 6PPC data in their newer load guides. Powders on hand...
I have N133, H322, Benchmark, and H4198 out of the ones that you have listed.
Figured I was going to work with N133 and H322 to get started. |

I would recommend you start around 27.5 w/N-133 & 27.0 w/H322. If you look at online load info, I think you will find what you are looking for, or close enough to get started.

I found a good node with 28.2-28.6 grains of VV-133 in 2 of my 6 PPC
rifles. I shot the Norma brass and found it every bit as good as the Lapua brass I also use. Some complain that when they stuff the Norma brass full that the primer pockets loosen! The Lapua brass has the same problem with the ultra stout loads used by some. The 6 PPC seems to me to be very easy to shoot small groups with what ever bullet I have used. These are proven loads in my Sako 6 PPC and 1/2 grain either direction with 68-70 grain bullets and F205M primers. My Sako didn't shoot 58's as tight as heavier 68/70's.

SmokinJoe...
Yes, that's exactly what I have found, that seems to be the lower end of where most start. I have a good feeling I should find something, given the extensive info out there and with the help of several board members, that she will shoot good....now I just have to do my part!!
Thanks again. |

ken158..
I have heard guys having real good luck with the 70gr. Nosler BT and the reference load area your talking about...time will tell, mine might be the same way.
Thank you again. |

Joe McNeill...
In doing some sorting of my Norma brass, it looks VERY consistent, right in line with some of Lapua stuff I was in a couple 22-250's..
