Data 2200 Powder for 20 Practical?
I bought some of the older Data 2200 powder and would like to try it in my 20 Prac. Using 32-40gr bullets. Anyone here done this. What powder is this close too?

Not for the 20 Practical, but in my 221FB with 40gr VMAX it is almost a perfect match for RL7. I also shoot AA2200 in my 223 Rem with 40gr bullets. You might start your search with those.

AA2200 is a great powder in smaller cartridges, especially the 20 VT and 20 VTT, too name a couple
You would be much better of in your 20 Practical to use something like Xterminator or CFE 223 just too name a couple. Check out the Terrific Twenties book and look at some loads and powders to use. Bill K You can also clic on the 20 caliber on the left edge of accurate Shooters web and get some good information on the 20 Practical to start with. |

I agree Bill, and looking at my Ramshot load manual they don’t even list it as an option for the tactical 20 which is very close. Xterminator is really better suited for the 32 gr bullets while Tac seems to perform better with the 40s. I’ve been using 2200 in a couple small 20s with awesome success.

I only wish I had bought an 8 lb jug of 8208 or CFE 223. On the Accurate Reloading site the individual used H4198 which is very close in burn rate. I agree that it is not the best burn rate.

When AA2200 shines, it's brilliant.
My awesome AA2200 load pushes the 65 gr. V-max out the barrel of my 6mm AR at 3400 fps into bug-hole sized groups. As soon as I find the CZ527 221 FB barrel that I misplaced, AA2200 will be the first powder I'll try in it. |

20 Practical powder
I use H335 for the 39 gr Sierra. I assume Benchmark and W844 (older surplus) would also work.

Johnly, in my CZ527 in 221FB, AA2200 loads are almost identical grain for grain matches for RL7. Same performance, but the AA is much less costly.

IS DATA2200 powder the same as AA2200 powder? The OP is asking about DATA2200 powder I think...not AA2200. At least that is what it appears to be to me...but I may not be fully awake yet.

I think it was called Data 2200 before it became a full fledged brand called AA2200. As I remember, I think the charge weights were the same for the example cartridges. However, I do know that 2230S and 2230C were off-speed lots of 2230. The off speed lots were called Data powders.
