Default Sako stocks at Boyds

Seems like Boyds is now inletting for several Sako models now, mainly the med and larger actions, no L461/A1 models yet. Several are in stock. I saw that they did this one on a custom order basis and the base price is pretty cheap so I ordered one for a L579 220S custom I have. Added some custom options like 14 1/4 LOP, and a textured green paint job, shipped for 131.00, that's pretty good. Problem is I've tried to custom order from them on 3 different occasions and after about 6-8 months ended up cancelling all 3 times. Well maybe 4th times a charm or I'm just a slow learner

I know several people here in Oz including me that are waiting for the Boyds L461 stocks to be released.

I've had 3 finished laminate stocks from Boyds and been well pleased with the quality for price.
Do they give a time scale when you order custom ones?
Ken.

I have used very many Boyd's stocks over about 25 years and always been well pleased with the quality, delivery and customer service. In fact if anything, I find them far better to deal with now than when they were smaller and really understaffed.

Is this delivery glitch only on the Sako's or are you seeing it on a bunch of them

Default well...

I've not tried them in quite awhile and have definitely noticed the increase of products they offer. In fact their prices have dropped also since then. Last attempt to buy was 4 years ago so I'm hoping for a different outcome.

Thanks Chuck

To speed up the firearm you want them to inlet for, use this form
http://www.boydsgunstocks.com/prefer...productrequest

I have done so for both the L461 and other actions, and according to their tech line they do use this to determine what next to make, but they also need actions for each to use as a guide....

I have a sako L461 that I just finished putting a Boyd’s thumbhole stock on. I ordered a left hand stock, (I’m left handed) right hand action, for a CZ 527. All aspects of the CZ stock were shorter, narrower or shallower inside. A couple evenings with a Dremel tool and a small wood rasp it fit almost perfect. After bedding the action and free floating the barrel, it was as good a fit as a Factory job. After inletting the bottom metal, I then had a pattern to drill for the front action screw. A fun project and was really rather simple. I now have Boyd’s thumbhole stocks on all 4 of my squirrel rifles.
