We're planning on turning ours. With the thicker brass, in addition to necking down from 22 to 17, I'm much more comfortable turning the necks to ensure concentricity. I'd rather spend the extra time and end up with a tack driver, not saying that a no-turn chambered 17TCM won't shoot, but I'd prefer to give myself a head start.

This will be a dedicated GS gun, so when drewh invites me to CA to shoot his over populated GS's , I don't miss many.

That INEXPENSIVE Shilen .17 super match has your name written all over it.

Dam you Hog!! Quit tempting me, I have my mind set on a heavier barrel, but if it gets INEXPENSIVE enough, I might compromise.

It's plenty heavy for a .17. Heck, that teeny weeny bore hole looks lost

in that muzzle. and the price is right, too!!!

Default 17 Barrel

Ok - you have my curiosity aroused. What is the scoop on this barrel? Inquiring minds need to know.

Bowfisher's looking at the bait but he's not sure about biting. Anyhoo, he's got first dibs on a Shilen select match, sendero contour .17 blank.

Hog Patrol, just out of curiousity is that a 10 twist? Seem like when I looked a long time ago that was all they offered.

Bowfisher, 2 of the 3 vs rifles I have I turn for. I was hoping to get away from that, but that is a pretty thick neck. You planning on a 40 degree shoulder and a .190-.200 long neck? Are you thinking somewhere around 14 for the neck thickness?
If the hunting spots were mine I'd have you out.

It's a 1 in 9 twist.
