Default Green Mtn barrel

Been trying to find a short piece of .357 barrel to make
a 7 1/2" barrel for a Blackhawk. Gave it up after a couple months.

Just opened the front door and found the new blank on the table.

Still wrapped up as the outside is polished, don't want it to flash rust.

Beautiful bore, looks bright n shiny as a brand new dime.

1:20", 25" long, 1.'20" dia. "stress relieved" it says on the ticket.

$94, s/h makes it $118.17. $22 from N/H, I guess isn't too bad. Much
cheaper than driving out there to pick it up.

Long enough to make three out of this. Just wish I could get on the
lathe and do it now. I can see it'll be at least next spring before I can.

Hell of is, I need to buy the gun yet too. Turns out Ruger don't put
7 1/2" on 'em any longer, only 6 1/2" or shorter. For a blaster, I don't understand that.

This is my second Grn Mtn blank. A few years ago I got a .40 cal for
another rebuild.

Guns: it's in the blood enough to be a habit it seems. Believe I have ten
new one's now that have never been fired, not even into the bullet trap
in the shop. Someday I've gotta cure that problem.

Does anyone else have such inflictions? HA! Cheers guys!!

George, Not on this site! Everyone here has proper restraint and NEVER buys any extra firearms or accessories just to have them collect dust, and take up safe space.

Yeah, I'm aware of that!

So few on here have more than one rifle.

Such a pitty ain't it?

I've got at least ten guns now I haven't fired.
Could never afford a safe big enough to hold all I have.

Never bought barrels except one at a time as needed.

I'm done building guns now except this pistol.

Hell of it is, I've bought three new just like it.

Swapped the first for a bunch of machinist tools I needed worse at the time.

Sold another one because I didn't like the short 5 1/2" barrel and a guy
wanted it for $25 more than I had in it.

The last one I had turned into a .40 S&W.

Have a 50 cal can full of loaded .357's and another of 9mm's and
no guns for either.

These things breed on their own, don't need water or any other excuse.

Rider has said my place is at the point of: "angle of repose"

This sickness is spread internationally as easily as covid19, I purchased a 6x47 Rem, the old 222 magnum version not this new upstart European one, the other day, just because.................oh it came with a truck load of reloading gear, powder, primers cases projectiles cleaning gear. Didn't need it, but who the hell worries about need. Only cost me 1000.00 Aussie dollars, the steal of the century.

I had a 30 Herrett and a 7.63 mini whisper (30 Mauser) nice couple kept to them selves in the safe, Along came a 30 Badger (38 special case run through a Tokarev die) Neat, So now the mini and the badger were becoming a problem leaving the poor Herrett feeling a little left out, So I bought her a 32-20 to keep her company!! Contender barrels are so sensitive.
